In Pakistan the explosion of an oil tanker at the plant for the recycling of ships has already killed 20 people and more than 130 people are still missing. It is reported by The Maritime Executive.

“The number of people killed in the explosion and fire at the plant for the recycling of ships has increased to 20, more than 130 workers were missing, which, it is feared, could be lost”, – is spoken in the message.

Taken on local TV footage you can see that the tanker, which exploded, still burning.

Regional and national officials promised to conduct a thorough investigation of the accident. Were taken into custody the President of the Association on ship recycling in Gadani and the foreman of a salvage crew on the tanker. Also proceedings were instituted against two more suspects.

The accident occurred due to the fact that the old tanker was not properly cleaned, and the area in which the workers used torches, were polluted by the oil sludge, which led to the explosion.
