President Barack Obama has extended for a year the state of emergency in the country in connection with the terrorist threat. The corresponding notification, the US President sent to Congress, the press service of the White house.
The validity of a state of emergency in the country was due to expire on 14 September.
Obama noted that the extension of state of emergency and the relevant powers of the authorities caused by the continued threat of terrorist attacks.
“I have therefore considered it necessary that the state of emergency continued after 14 September 2016 taking into account terrorist threat”, – stated in the notice of Obama.
A state of emergency was declared on 14 September 2001, a few hours after the terrorist attacks in new York and Washington that claimed nearly three thousand lives. Since the state of emergency renewed every year.
