Metallurgical plant Azovstal, part of Metinvest group of businessman Rinat Akhmetov, plans to shift the focus from the production of the rail to the production of large rolled sections and beams. About this stated the company CEO Enver Tskitishvili, reports UAprom.
“In our krupnooptovom the shop will not be a rolling mill, and a balcony rail. That is, we will shift the focus to the production of large varieties and beams”, – he said.
According to Tskitishvili, due to the fact that post-Soviet countries used protectionist measures to prevent rail products Azovstal to their markets.
“Of course, rails can deliver, but with a number of conditions which we cannot fulfill. So we made the decision to leave “reliable” and the maximum load capacity for the production of large varieties,” – said Tskitishvili.
The CEO also said that because of the protection the plant shifted its focus in the markets: the pattern of sales, the EU’s share was 35%, now 70%. Another 15-20% are in markets in North Africa and the Middle East, while the rest – in the CIS markets.
Earlier it was reported that Azovstal blast furnace translates to the technology of pulverized coal injection instead of natural gas use.
