New UN sanctions against North Korea “tantamount to an act of war and total economic blockade”, said acknowledgment Pyongyang, according to Reuters.

“We define the “resolution on sanctions” created by the United States and its followers, as a serious violation of the sovereignty of our Republic, as an act of war that violates peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and in the region, and categorically reject the resolution,” – said the Ministry of foreign Affairs of the DPRK.

Pyongyang also claims that will continue to strengthen the “nuclear deterrence” which “aimed at the eradication of nuclear threats to the United States, blackmail and hostilities through the establishment of a practical balance with the United States.”

On 22 December the UN security Council unanimously adopted a resolution imposing new sanctions against North Korea.
