In October the fifth consecutive month, banks continued to increase lending in the national currency. This was reported on the website of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).
According to the regulator, for the month the balances of the loans in the national currency increased by 0.9% compared with September to 548,2 bln.
“Positive dynamics is provided by the growth in the balance not only on the credits granted to the population, but also on loans to the corporate sector lending which quickened in the third quarter of this year. The portfolio of loans to businesses and households increased by 0.4% m/m and 3% m/m respectively,” the national Bank noted.
Also according to the NBU, increased balances of loans granted in foreign currency, to $16.4 billion in equivalent. “This contributed to the increase in balances on loans to business by 1.8% m/M. At the same time, balances of loans granted to the population continued to decrease by 1.2% m/m,” said the regulator.
NBU expects that in the absence of significant negative shocks, the financial institution will expedite the lending business, and increasingly are issuing loans to the population.
