Social networks Facebook and Twitter may face sanctions if you do not provide the UK Parliament with the necessary information in response to a query regarding the disinformation campaign of Russia in Brexit. It warned the head of the parliamentary Committee for culture, media and sport Damien Collins, writes The Guardian.
Collins noted that the provision of information to companies given deadline to January 18. “There must be a way of tracking actions that companies such as Facebook, are adopting to identify sources of misinformation, especially when it is politically motivated and coming from a different country,” said Collins.
He stressed that the social network needs to tell the Parliament how can they resist such action.
Collins did not rule out that one of the options of sanctions may be a limit on advertising in social networks.
