The number of ethnic Hungarians living outside Hungary and obtained citizenship of that country by a specially developed Budapest program reached million people. Diaspora with Hungarian passports have previously demonstrated complete loyalty to the Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban, can provide the unconditional victory of his party in the upcoming elections, writes Bloomberg.

It is noted that the one-millionth account Hungarian citizenship on the day it was rated a 36-year-old Serbian farmer – Hungarian origin.

This program was one of the first laws adopted by the Hungarian Parliament after the return of orbán for the Premiership in 2010.

As the newspaper notes, the Hungarian Diaspora, the majority of which live in countries neighboring Hungary, for the 2014 parliamentary elections by an overwhelming majority (over 95%) supported the current Prime Minister and his center-right party Fidesz.

Unlike the citizens of Hungary, who left home and went West, living abroad and obtained citizenship of ethnic Hungarians can vote by e-mail.

According to the CEC Hungary in 2014 from 8.2 million Hungarians with voting rights almost 194 thousand were ethnic Hungarians living abroad.

Regular elections to the Hungarian Parliament scheduled for April 2018.

7 December 2017, the Minister of foreign Affairs of Hungary péter Szijjártó said that Budapest requires to deploy in Transcarpathia constant monitoring mission of the OSCE due to “tensions” in the region.
