Monday, January 30, the General Prosecutor’s office completed pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings on suspicion of the ex-dictator Viktor Yanukovych of treason. About that today at the briefing said the Prosecutor Ruslan Kravchenko, the press service of the GPU.
The lawyers of Yanukovych reported about completion of pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings on suspicion of Yanukovych:
– high treason (part 1 of article 111 of the criminal code of Ukraine);
– aiding and abetting a military invasion of Russia on the territory of Ukraine (part 5, article 27, part 3 of article 110 of the criminal code of Ukraine);
– complicity in the waging of an aggressive war against Ukraine (paragraph 5 of article 27, part 2 of article 437 of the criminal code of Ukraine).
Defenders of Yanukovych opened all the materials of preliminary investigation, and provided access to them. Began reviewing the part of the defense.
After complying with the requirements of article 290 of the criminal procedure code of Ukraine on the opening of parties to criminal proceedings of materials, the indictment against Yanukovych will be brought to trial for the conduct of conviction, noted Kravchenko.
“In the case of the establishment of the facts of delay by the defense with an introduction to materials of preliminary investigation, the Chief military Prosecutor’s office to be filed in court an application for establishing the defense of the specific term needed to complete reading these materials,” – said the Prosecutor.
Kravchenko also noted that the statement of lawyers of the alleged wrongful completion of the state office of public Prosecutor of pre-trial investigation in the case of Yanukovych in the past year is a manipulation, because the same decree, the term of the preliminary investigation was extended to 28 March 2017 in accordance with the CCP rules.
“The Prosecutor in these criminal proceedings, admitting collected during pre-trial investigation, evidence is sufficient for drawing up the indictment, said the suspect Yanukovych and his defenders on the end of the preliminary investigation and provided access to the materials of the pretrial investigation,” – said in a statement.
28 November 2016, the Prosecutor General Yuri Lutsenko to Svyatoshynsky district court of Kyiv announced the notification about the suspected Yanukovych of treason.
On 15 December the Pechersky district court of Kiev allowed to detain Yanukovych and deliver it to the court, 20 January the court gave permission for correspondence investigation against the former dictator.
