One of the world’s largest credit Bureau Equifax said the leak of personal data of 143 million of its customers in the United States. About it writes BBC.

From may to July 2017, the attackers gained access to social security numbers, dates of birth, addresses and, in some cases, to numbers of driver’s licenses. For this purpose we used a vulnerability in the security system on the website of the company, said Equifax.

Criminals also gained access to credit card data 209 thousand persons and to personal data about 182 thousand people – residents of the UK and Canada.

“The company found no evidence that they affected the personal information of the customers from other countries”, – the press-service.

A database that includes information about corporate customers were not affected.

Chapter Equifax Richard Smith apologized to customers and promised to complete the investigation in the coming weeks.

Equifax has offices in 24 countries, including the UK and Russia, employs nearly 10 thousand people. The Bureau was founded in 1899, its headquarters is located in Atlanta.
