Ex-Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Crimea could face up to 15 years in prison on charges of promoting the occupation of the Crimean Peninsula by the aggressor state of Russia. Reports a press about it-service of Prosecutor’s office of ARC.

According to the report, investigators obtained “irrefutable evidence” that in March 2014 the defendant “has assisted and contributed to the occupation of the Crimea”.

“In particular, with their involvement in illegally adopted a number of resolutions which resulted in the illegitimate state created by the formation of Republic of Crimea”, – noted in Prosecutor’s office.

The actions of the former Deputy qualified under part 1 of article 111 of the criminal code (treason), the indictment against her has been submitted to the court.

“The accused faces a punishment of imprisonment for a period of 12 to 15 years”, – stated in the message.

The name of a former Deputy in the Prosecutor’s office do not call. The office noted that the pre-trial investigation against the accused was held in absentia.
