Ex-head physician of the Sumy oblast psychiatric hospital No. 2 face imprisonment on charges of leaving in danger and torturing cold of patients, and the incitement of colleagues to the illegal actions. The indictment against her today, November 22, was transferred to the court, the press service of the Prosecutor of Sumy region.

The investigation established that in November 2016 – January 2017 in some departments of the hospital the temperature was unacceptably low, from 10 to 18 degrees at a rate of 20 degrees.

The prosecutors say that the doctor took no action to remedy the situation, although aware of the possible consequences. According to available information, she “treated the patients as inferiors members of society,” the Ministry reported.

Found that from a cold suffered 453 patients of the hospital, four of them for this reason died. In this case, the accused allegedly persuaded the doctor-the pathologist to make the documents false data on the causes of death of these people.

The now former head physician accused of torturing (part 1 of article 127 of the criminal code), leaving in danger, caused the death (part 3 of article 135 of the criminal code), and incitement to drawing up of false official documents (part 4 of article 27 of part 1 of article 366 of the criminal code).

The doctor-pathologist was charged with complicity in the deliberate abandonment without help (part 5, article 27 part 3 of article 135 of the criminal code) and preparation of false documents (paragraph 1 of article 366 of the criminal code).

The accused faces three to eight years in prison.
