The administration of seaports of Ukraine and the European Bank for reconstruction and development signed an agreement on financing the development of feasibility study of concession projects GP Stevedoring company Olvia and GP Kherson commercial sea port. About it reports a press-service of the Ministry of infrastructure of Ukraine.
According to infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan, the Bank undertakes to cover the costs of technical assistance in the organization of concession projects, and the preparation of fair and transparent competitions for attracting private investors to the concession of two state shipping companies.
“The implementation of concession projects in the marine industry is a logical continuation of port reforms, initiated in 2013 …Only according to preliminary calculations, the transfer of two national stevedores concession will increase traffic no less than 5.5 million tons and investment in the amount of up to $140 million,” – said the head of ASD Raivis Veckagans.
Earlier, on November 14, 2017 the Ministry of infrastructure and the international Finance Corporation signed a Memorandum of understanding. IFC will help structure the public-private partnership in two Ukrainian ports – Stevedoring company Olvia and Kherson sea trade port. IFC will also explore the possibility of structuring the development project of railway-ferry complex in the seaport of the Black sea.
