The Parliament of Estonia during the third round of voting failed to elect a President of the country, transfers Bi-bi-si.
The required two thirds of votes scored in the Riigikogu (State Assembly of Estonia – ed.) neither of which have reached the third round of the candidates.
For the representative of the ruling reform Party, former Prime Minister and former European Commissioner Siim Kallas was filed on 42 votes.
The candidate for the opposition Centrist party Mailis reps voted 26 of members of the Riigikogu.
According to legally prescribed procedure, the President of Estonia will now be elected by the electoral College which will meet on 24 September.
Callas and reps still in the list of candidates. In addition, the electoral College may propose other candidates for the vote, including from those who dropped out during the first three rounds.
The Board elects the President of Estonia the absolute majority of the votes, the winner must vote in at least half of the electors.
