Chairman of the group of support of Ukraine in the European Commission Peter Wagner believes that the process of selection and appointment of judges in the new Supreme court was transparent. This publication reports European true.
“For us there is no doubt that the process of selection and appointment was very transparent. This is really something, for which Ukraine must be applauded,” said Wagner.
However, he noted that he understands the civil society who questioned the purity of some of the judges nominated in the end. Now therefore, special attention should be paid to the election of the President of the Supreme court and the presidents of the chambers.
“It is extremely important that the Supreme court began work. And depends on who will head the court and who will lead its chamber, the Supreme court justices themselves will look at the purity of those who will be elected to these key positions,” said Wagner.
November 11, 2017, President Petro Poroshenko signed a decree on appointment of judges of the Supreme 114 court.
