From 2.78 million to 3.79 million bitcoins lost forever. This is evidenced by research conducted by the firm Chainalysis, reported AIN.

These data indicate that from 17% to 23% obtained at the moment bitcoins are gone. Most bitcoins (2.55 million) were lost due to their removal from circulation. Those coins that were mined 2-7 years ago and owned by long-term investors, the so-called “holders”.

Chainalysis also claims that over 1 million bitcoins that have been associated with the alleged Creator of the cryptocurrency Satoshi Nakamoto, disappeared forever.

The study Chainalysis, unlike other assumptions about lost bitcoins, based on a detailed empirical analysis of the blockchain, which records all transactions of bitcoin.

Earlier it was reported that bitcoin exchange rate in South Korea exceeded $10 thousand.
