Some governments of the European Union not only do not recognize their obligations and promises, but even the European aspirations of countries like Ukraine. This was stated by former NATO Secretary General, Advisor to the President of Ukraine Anders Fogh Rasmussen, reports UKRINFORM.
He believes that the EU should clearly determine what signals will be sent to Ukraine on its European perspectives.
Among such concrete steps, he called the invitation of Ukraine in the customs Union of the EU, as well as the provision of financial assistance to continue reforms and restore the ruined Russian infrastructure in the East.
“I am concerned that we are unable to show vision for the long term in respect of Ukraine. If we are not able to show the light at the end of the tunnel, then we run the risk of losing trust. We can’t afford to let Putin was the only one in Europe who has a long-term perspective in Ukraine,” said Rasmussen.
