“Inform the two key figures. First, the evaluation of scientific examination, officially conducted by the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the losses caused by the regime of Yanukovych to the Ukrainian state, up to 40 billion US dollars. This is one the annual state budget… So $ 1.5 billion that we could order special forfeiture back to the state budget, is only part of the looted organized criminal group of Yanukovych. These funds are returned in accordance with law and the decisions of the court and they raise questions only from those who previously worked in the departments Kurchenko and Klymenko,” – said the Prosecutor General.
Lutsenko is convinced that Yanukovych will not be able to get this money back through the European courts, because the law enforcement officers acted within the current legislation in accordance with the decisions of the courts.
We will remind, the Law “On amendments to the criminal and criminal procedural codes of Ukraine concerning implementation of the recommendations contained in the sixth report of the European Commission on the implementation by Ukraine of the action Plan for liberalization of EU visa regime for Ukraine concerning improvement of the procedure of arrest of property and special confiscation” came into force on 8 April this year.
In late April, the court confiscated the money of Yanukovych’s entourage in the amount of $1.5 billion. the defence denies the involvement of the former President to confiscated the money. They claim that the account of Yanukovych in Oshchadbank only 28 million.
