The European Union monitors the situation around the readmission of former Governor of the Odessa region Mikhail Saakashvili and had been waiting for their rights. U.S. Ambassador to Georgia Ian Kelly told local publications that the United States is closely monitoring the process and commented: “We continue to monitor the situation of Mikhail Saakashvili. We hope that the rule of law, and the rights of Mikhail Saakashvili will be met.”
Other reactions to the events of February 12 from Western officials was not followed. We can say that exactly the same was the reaction of the Western media. They are really closely followed the process: all the key West edition of 12 more wrote that Saakashvili expelled from Ukraine to Poland. In the materials described the procedure of detention at the restaurant Suluguni, version of the Ukrainian side, and why, and on what grounds it was, and opposition to Saakashvili and his representatives. In the meantime, the journalists recalled the milestones in the Ukrainian career, former Governor of the Odessa region and his criticism of President Petro Poroshenko.
Press conference in Poland on 13 February went unnoticed. The only exception is the English version of Deutsche Welle, which yesterday took Saakashvili interview. But today’s announcement that ex-President and former Governor are already in the Netherlands, obviously, not all managed to receive and process.
Attention only four submissions on the subject. First, the publication of The Independent, where Saakashvili’s actions is called the game of cat and mouse with the Ukrainian authorities. Second, Bloomberg unlike the vast majority of other publications, recalled “film Bank” “His (Saakashvili – ed.) for a short time detained in Kiev on suspicion that he received money from fugitive businessman and was planning to seize power”, – wrote the journalist. In addition, Radio liberty and the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, pointed out that the Ukrainian authorities suspect Saakashvili’s links with the inner circle of ex-dictator Viktor Yanukovych and the Kremlin.
