The hotel Pohlmann in the West German town of Herford in the Federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia before Christmas, closed after 23 years activity. The owners, spouses Nut and Kai Pohlmann decided to give the hotel inventory two Ukrainian hospitals, where they treat victims of the fighting in the Donbass, reports DW with reference to the newspaper Neue Westfälische.
In transportation helped the Association Brückenschlag Ukraine (“building bridges with Ukraine”).
“We lived a difficult (for business – ed.) year, but received significant support for our clients. So I would also like to do something meaningful, so I thought about assistance to Ukraine. Furniture we do not mind, but the guests will be sad,” says Heike Pohlmann.
The estate of the spouse has lost in a dispute with the Bank after conducting compulsory auction.
A gift from Pohlmann truck has already sent to Ukraine: it is 130 chairs 60 tables 50 beds and mattresses, 40 cabinets as well as linen and industrial washing machines. Elegant furniture, purchased the hotel in 1997, is still in excellent condition. Dismantling and packing it helped five Ukrainians.
“It will be a great gift under the tree,” – said the representative of the Association Brückenschlag Ukraine Karl-Hermann Krog.
This is not the only act of assistance to Ukraine from Germany for Christmas – informed in Transcarpathia sent thousands of Christmas gifts, which were collected in Bavaria and in other parts of the country.
In August, the German Embassy in Ukraine reported that Germany will allocate in 2017, an additional one million euros for humanitarian aid to Ukraine. Only in 2017, Germany has allocated 25 million euros to support the activities of UNHCR in Ukraine.
