Council also adopted in principle the draft amendments to several laws in connection with the ratification of the Council of Europe Convention on combating violence against women and domestic violence No. 4952. Voted 244 deputies. The project is proposed to introduce in the Ukrainian legislation of the provisions of the Istanbul Convention of the Council of Europe. The deputies supported the project after its initiators under the transcript stated that the term “sexual orientation” will also be removed from the text of the document.

The very Council of Europe Convention on the prevention of violence against women and domestic violence, the deputies ratified. MP from the Radical party Igor Mosiychuk said that some provisions of the Convention are contrary to the values of the Ukrainian society. MP from the Batkivshchyna Ivan krulko said that many countries had ratified the Convention with remarks so as not to damage national traditions.

The Deputy from BPP Irina Lutsenko offered to return the draft law on the ratification of Convention No. 0119 in the foreign Affairs Committee to prepare comments. Speaker Andrew paruby immediately put the proposal to a vote. It was supported by 249 deputies.
