The Minister of education and science, Liliya Hrynevych believes that with the introduction of 12-year school in 2018 will appear in the anthology of contemporary Ukrainian children’s literature. She announced this in an interview to UKRINFORM.
“Until that time in the school curriculum, as a rule, used works from the last century, that they are full of textbooks and school libraries. In this regard, we decided to keep programs grades 1-4, and to publish the anthology of contemporary Ukrainian children’s literature” – said Grinevich.
According to the Minister, thanks to the anthology of works of modern Ukrainian writers will be available to all Ukrainian children
“We gave teachers a chance to decide for themselves, given the specifics of their class, how much time they need to devote to a particular topic. Also they themselves can decide which piece will be read by children. After all, the child loved to read, it is necessary to acquaint with interesting texts that he will understand that in tune with the modern perception of the child,” she added.
“Children should be taught the right to seek information, to learn how to distinguish trustworthy information from untrustworthy, to think critically and, equally important, give them a basic core of knowledge and skills to use them,” – said Grinevich.
