UN Secretary-General antónio Guterres made a plan of activities for the year the resolution of the conflict in the Donbass. Previously, this plan was not listed, said Deputy Minister of the temporarily occupied territories Yury Grymchak in an interview with Radio Liberty.
“The action plan of the UN Secretary General for this year – a solution to the conflict in the Donbas. The last three years that was not in the plans”, – he said.
Grymchak expressed hope that the occupied territory of Donbass in 2018 to return to the Ukraine. “I want that to happen this year. And I have that hope. And have some information. So we will consider”, – he said.
18 January, Parliament legally recognized the Russian Federation as an aggressor and occupier, and endorsed the decision of the President of Petro Poroshenko on the use of Armed forces of Ukraine for the release of captured hybrid Russian army of the territory of Donbass (bill N7163).

6 October 2017 Rada adopted in first reading the draft law on the reintegration of Donbass (“on peculiarities of state policy on ensuring state sovereignty of Ukraine on the temporarily occupied territories in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions”). On 17 November, the parliamentary Committee on national security and defence approved the final version of the text for consideration in the second reading.
On 12 December, the UN stated that the bill “lacks definition” in the protection of the rights and freedoms of the individual. The Ombudsman also saw some problems. It was later published texts.
