Special monitoring mission of the OSCE has limited access to some areas along the international border between Ukraine and the Russian Federation. This is stated in the answer a press-services of the mission to the request for information ЛІГА.net on the possibility of placing the control points of the OSCE in the uncontrolled part of the border of Ukraine with Russia.

“The mission continues has limited access to some areas along the international border between Ukraine and the Russian Federation in areas outside of government control. In such cases, one can only assume that in these areas there is something hidden from our eyes. SMM plans to open more advanced patrol bases in the East of Ukraine, but this mission requires safe and unhindered access”, – stated in the message.

“The mission continues to face restrictions on freedom of movement, especially in areas that are not controlled by the government (of Ukraine – ed). The restrictions include denial of access, the jamming of the SMM UAV systems, the lack of security guarantees from the parties and direct threats to the security of observers through the placement and use of weapons near the advanced patrol bases SMM”, – underlined in the message.

The mission, despite pressure from militants in the observer, continues to visit the border area.

Six of the advanced patrol bases of SMM are in the areas of Donbas controlled by Ukraine Volnovaha, Pokrovsk (formerly Krasnoarmeysk, – ed), Svetlodarsk, Novoaidar, the Village Lugansk and Happiness.

Three bases of OSCE are located in the occupied areas: kadievka (former Stakhanov – ed), Gorlovka and Debaltsevo.

On June 10 the Minister of foreign Affairs Pavlo Klimkin stated that the OSCE needs to access the border.
