French President Francois Hollande said today that the administration of new US President Donald trump is a “challenge” for the European Union, especially in matters of trade. It is reported by Le Figaro.

“Frankly, there are problems with the US administration about the rules of trade and vision of ways to resolve the conflicts in the world,” said Hollande during a visit to Berlin.

“So of course we have to talk with Donald trump, because Americans chose it, but we must also do it with the conviction of the need to advance our interests and our values,” he added.

In addition, Angela Merkel is also concerned about recent developments in the United States.

“We see that the General structure in which we operate in the world, drastically and quickly changing and we should solve these new problems,” she said. This applies both to “protect a free society, and protection of free trade,” said the Chancellor.
