General Directorate of intelligence (Gur) of the Ministry of defense refuted the information released today by the Committee of state security of Belarus about the fact that the detainee in this country, the Ukrainian journalist Paul Sharoika is a member of the Ukrainian intelligence. About it reports a press-service of the defense Ministry Gur.

Also, I think “untrue” information to the KGB of Belarus that supposedly Sharoika have established a network of agents and led intelligence activities on the territory of Belarus.

“The service on public relations of the DIU of Ukraine is authorized to declare what is contained in the statement (KGB – ed.) does not correspond to reality,” – said in the message of management.

However, the press service noted that earlier Sharoika served in Gur for the position of head of the press service. However, in 2009, he was dismissed from military service for health reasons. After the dismissal Sharoika worked as a journalist for the Ukrainian media, including correspondent in Belarus, said in the Gur of the Ministry of defense.

17 November 2017, it became known that in Belarus on charges of “espionage” detained correspondent of the Ukrainian radio, Ukrainian citizen Pavel Sharoika. The KGB said that Sharoika “established intelligence network” from among the citizens of Belarus, “who for a reward followed their instructions to collect information of the nature of intelligence in the military-political sphere.”

Belarus declared persona non grata by the counselor of the Embassy of Ukraine to Belarus Igor Skvortsov. The Belarusian KGB claimed that the journalist Sharoika allegedly admitted that the diplomat has coordinated its activities. The Belarusian side calls Skvortsova “the employee of the Main intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of defense of Ukraine”, which allegedly acted under the guise of the post of adviser to the Ukrainian Embassy.
