In North-West Alaska beach died 64 the walrus. It is reported by US News.

Walrus was discovered near the village of point lay.

Specialists of Service of protection of fish resources and wildlife, States believe that they died in a stampede that arose as a result of panic provoked by a polar bear, hunter, boat or airplane.

Among the dead walruses most were under the age of one year.

Experts note that climate change and melting ice, the walruses appear on the coast more often.

This year several hundred animals came to the shore of Alaska in late summer. In their regular migration can involve up to several tens of thousands of animals.

All their strength in the region reaches 40 thousand individuals.
