The Austrian Parliament voted to ban the burqa, niqab and other garments that fully cover the face and body in public places. Starting in October 2017, on the whole territory of Austria, for it will be fined in the amount of 150 euros, the Agency reports Deutsche Welle.
This measure is part of the so-called integration package, which also includes the complication of the procedure of distribution of the Koran on the streets.
In addition, under this initiative, refugees and migrants with high chances of obtaining such status will be required within one year to attend integration courses, on which they will be taught German language and to talk about the values of Austrian society. Also, refugees have a certain amount of work on public works without financial remuneration. Those who refuse to do so, will be reduced social welfare.
According to the Minister of foreign Affairs and integration Sebastian Kurz, migrants will be able to win the respect of the Austrian companies. Thus within three months after submission of the application for granting refugee status, migrants have the right to get a job. The government expects that the integration measures will cost the Austrian state of 200 million euros per year.
The package of integration measures was adopted by the coalition of conservatives and social Democrats, despite harsh criticism and early parliamentary elections to be held in October.
