Danish striker hockey club “Rungsted” Nicholas Rosenthal became the first professional athlete with a salary in bitcoins. Part of his contract protected against fluctuations in the market, but the remaining amount will be formed depending on the course of bitcoin, writes sports.ru.

His example could be followed by other players – to go to the bitcoins made by the whole team.

“Rungsted” has a new General sponsor – Danish bitcoin billionaire Niklas Nicolaisen, owner and CEO Bitcoin Suisse platform for trading digital currencies. According to reports, he signed with the hockey club three-year agreement, which will enter into force on 27 December. We are talking about seven-digit sum in dollars.

Under the agreement home arena “Rungsted” will be called the Bitcoin Arena. In addition, the main bar in the arena will now be able to accept payment in bitcoins.
