In London a group of squatters anarchists occupied a vacant 5-story mansion of Russian oligarch Andrey Goncharenko, a former Manager of Gazprom, and uses it as a shelter for the homeless. About it reports The Guardian.
The squatters – Autonomous nation of anarchist libertarians, known as ANAL – said they entered the building through an open window on 23 January and placed it about 25 homeless people.
Tom Fox, one of the squatters, said: “This is a crime that there are so many homeless people and at the same time, so many empty buildings. Our occupation draws attention to this injustice.”
According to official figures, in Britain more than 200 thousand homes are empty for more than six months.
It is reported that homeless were pleased with the proposal to move into the house of the oligarch.
Representatives Goncharenko, the company MCA Shipping Ltd, based in Gibraltar, has filed a lawsuit in court. The hearing is set for January 31.
The house is one of four buildings acquired by the coach within three years. Its cost is estimated at £15 million
