In Moldova, the failed referendum on the resignation of the mayor of the capital Chisinau. It is reported MOLDPRES with reference to the district electoral Council of Chisinau.
Came into sections 110 thousand voters or 17,53% – this appearance is insufficient for a referendum to be held. This requires the attendance of at least one-third of the voters.
In the referendum a question was raised about the resignation of mayor Dorin Chirtoaca. He holds the position since 2007, and now in his third term. Against him opened a criminal case for the benefit of the influence and abuse of power. Chirtoaca has been removed from office while investigating the case.
On the organization of the referendum spent nearly nine million lei – about 13,5 million UAH.
