Russia is trying to retroactively legalize foreign mercenaries working for the Kremlin PMC Wagner; to this end, the President of the state-aggressor Vladimir Putin recently signed a decree allowed officials in the Russian army for foreigners to participate in peacekeeping and anti-terrorist operations beyond Russia. The journalists at the briefing said the head of the SBU Basil Gritsak, the correspondent LIGA.net.
“The next day, after a briefing in SBU PMC Wagner on Sunday (October 8 – ed.), the President of the Russian Federation, and throws all signed a decree on amendments to the order of passage of military service. The decree legalizing the involvement of citizens of other countries not only in times of martial law or armed conflict, as it was before, and for the assignments with the support of the world outside of the Russian Federation”, – said the head of the Service.
“We regard this as an attempt to retroactively legitimize the activities of foreigners in PMC Wagner”, – said Hrytsak.
The head of the SBU noted that we are talking about attempts to legalize mercenaries operating in Ukraine and Syria.
“I want to emphasize, PMC Wagner is the organization of a cover for actually acting unit of the Armed forces of the Russian Federation”, – said Hrytsak.
7 October 2017, the head of the SBU reported that the plane Il-76 with the Ukrainian paratroopers on Board June 14, 2014 in Lugansk was shot down by mercenaries of the so-called private military company Wagner.
