Today, 23 January, in Strasbourg started the winter session of the parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, which will consider the “Ukrainian question”. It is reported Yevropravda.

The session will be attended by delegations from all member States of the COE, with the exception of the Russian Federation. The deputies of the aggressor state refused to participate in the PACE and did not sent a list of their representatives in the organization.

Such a move, according to the source, Putin’s Russia gives an opportunity formally to avoid the renewal of sanctions, as in the absence of the representatives of the Russian delegation, the Assembly is not able to deprive them of the right to vote.

Earlier in the PACE agenda an item was added to discuss the monitoring report on the functioning of democratic institutions in Ukraine.

The report will be read and discussed Wednesday, January 25. Until that time, the deputies have to register the amendments to the draft document.

According to the publication, a preliminary draft of a document PACE – “very complimentary to Kiev,” he emphasizes the achievements of Ukraine after revolution of dignity.
