In Sweden, parliamentarians have proposed to adopt the law of consent, whereby men and women should receive before intercourse unambiguous consent to sex. It is reported by Sveriges Radio.
Otherwise, without consent it’s considered rape.
Current Swedish law defines rape as coerced sex through violence, threats or abuse of dependent position of the victim.
In the proposed bill to the definition of rape offered add sex without explicit consent.
“Consent must be unequivocal. Sex should be voluntary. If it is involuntary, it is illegal,” – said the Prime Minister of Sweden Stefan Leuven, which is one of the initiators of the bill.
It is planned that in the case of the bill next year, it will enter into force on 1 July 2018.
It is noted that the initiative appearance of the bill was the result of the campaign #metoo, which brought together men and women who are victims of sexual harassment.
