In the Indian city of Mumbai at least 14 people were killed and 19 injured in a major fire in the restaurant in high-rise building. Among the victims were 11 women, reports The Indian Express.

According to preliminary data, the fire broke out in the night of Friday, December 29, in the indoor facility on the roof of the office complex, and then through the carpet and the wood floors quickly spread throughout the building. The cause of the fire is still unknown.

According to doctors, most of the victims died from suffocation. Trying to escape, some visitors of the restaurant ran to the bathroom, where he eventually was found a large part of the bodies.

Law enforcement authorities have opened a criminal case against the owner of the establishment where the fire occurred.
