In Ukraine reveals only 8% of crimes committed against media representatives. This was stated by the head of the Main Department of information policy of the presidential Administration Andriy Zhigulin during a panel discussion at the Ukrainian crisis media center, UKRINFORM reported.
According to Zhigulin, this year there were 172 criminal proceedings on crimes against journalists. This is 0.02% of the total number of criminal proceedings (1.5 million).
“And here we are talking about the reduction of statistics and at the same time that journalists are turning to law enforcement to protect… unfortunately, at the same time have another statistic. Disclosure of crimes against journalists is still not at the proper level. Only 8% of crimes are solved. But starting in 2016, the court has directed 75% of criminal cases more than it was in previous years”, – said the representative of the AP.
He says that now no one call from journalists to law enforcement bodies does not remain without attention and the investigation of such cases is on the personal control of the interior Ministry.
