Russian social network Vkontakte has been blocked by a number of service providers in India due to suicidal game known as the Blue whale. It is reported by The Times of India.

Users attempting to log in Vkontakte in the cities of Bangalore and Chennai, said that the visit opens a page with the message “URL is blocked in accordance with the instructions of the Competent government authority in compliance with orders of the court.” A senior official in the Ministry of electronics and information technology of India confirmed the blocking of Russian social networks.

The Ministry noted that the social network is blocked temporarily. Indian law enforcement agencies are trying to determine whether the Blue whale to be associated with cases of recent suicides and suicide attempts of Russian teenagers.

The point of the game the Blue whale is that the so-called curator gives the user a variety of tasks associated with hurting yourself, and the final mission – a suicide mission.

In Ukraine the Russian social network Vkontakte and Odnoklassniki in may 2017, fell under the sanctions in accordance with the decision of the Council of national security and defense: Internet service providers are not permitted to access these sites.
