Israel plans to deport about 40 thousand refugees from Africa. This was stated by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, reports Deutsche Welle.
He said that Israel has deported more than 20 thousand African immigrants, and the third stage of “intensified deportations” would be possible through international agreements.
“This allows us to deport the remaining about 40 thousand without their consent,” said Netanyahu.
According to media reports, Israel agreed to deportation from Rwanda and Uganda.
Many migrants settled in the poor areas of South tel Aviv and between them and the local inhabitants periodically there are clashes.
Israel, as a rule, considers refugees from Sudan, Eritrea and other African countries as illegal immigrants and not satisfy their request for asylum.
In the office of the UN high Commissioner for refugees is concerned about the plans of Israel. There are reminded of the legal obligation to protect refugees and other people who need protection.
