The candidate from the ruling Georgian dream party, former footballer and former Minister of energy of Georgia Kakha Kaladze is in the lead on elections of the mayor of Tbilisi. About it writes the local edition of Rustavi2.
According to the results of counting of votes with 714 of 737 polling stations, Kaladze scored 51,15%.
Independent candidate Aleko Elisashvili scored 17.46% of the votes. The candidate of the opposition party United national movement Zaal, Udumashvili voted 16,48% of the voters.
Kakha Kaladze played for Kiev “Dynamo” and Italian “Milan” and “Genoa”. After completing his football career, he joined the ranks of the then opposition movement Georgian dream, founded by billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili in February 2012.
Kaladze was elected to the Parliament of Georgia, was Deputy Prime Minister and energy Minister.
