U.S. Secretary of state John Kerry made a statement on the occasion of the twenty-fifth anniversary of Ukraine’s independence. It is reported by Voice of America.
“For a quarter of a century the American people admired the depth of your commitment to freedom. On this special day, we welcome you as friends and wish you a peaceful, marked by prosperity and a productive next year,” said Kerry.
The Secretary added that after his visit to Kiev is under strong impression of the achievements of Ukraine for two years since the revolution of Dignity. “Despite Russian aggression in Eastern Ukraine and the illegal occupation of Crimea, you continued to work on creating a more effective political, economic and cultural institutions,” said Kerry.
According to him, today, the United States and Ukraine also celebrate the 25th anniversary of a fruitful partnership between the two countries based on a common commitment to freedom and the rule of law. “The United States will you continue in the period when you strengthen your democracy. Together with our European partners, we will also achieve full implementation of the Minsk agreements to end the Russian aggression in the Donbas and return to the international border under the control of Ukrainian”, – said Kerry.
