The Minister of foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius said that the EU regarding Ukraine is dominated by the “mood of expectancy”, and urged EU partners to use all possibilities to influence the situation in the Donbass. He said this, speaking at the opening of the platform “Forum Ukraine”, initiated by the European policy Centre in Brussels, reports Radio Liberty.
“How can we feel comfortable when the situation in Ukraine is not improving. It is clear that there is a “mood of expectancy” – because of the elections in some States, hopes that something will change. But you can expect endless, but the aggression is not stopped. We are never late to interfere of course, we invaded the Crimea and carry out aggression, but if we can influence the situation, what is happening, and our responsibility,” – said the diplomat.
Linkevičius urged EU partners to collect all of the resources – intellectual, diplomatic, financial and others – and to influence the situation in the East of Ukraine.
In his opinion, the EU should work through international agencies to increase its presence in Ukraine.
The head of the Lithuanian foreign Ministry noted that it will not be easy to do through the UN, because Russia has veto power, but, in his words, you can use “the tools that we have in the EU.”
Informed Linkevičius said that Russia is waging a hybrid war in the Baltic States.
