State Agency of automobile roads of Ukraine (Ukravtodor) intends to implement a project of the new highway Lviv-Budapest through the checkpoint Dyida. About it reports a press-Department service.
Ukravtodor together with the world Bank started preparing a pre-feasibility study of the project of construction (reconstruction) of roads of I category Lviv-Mukacheve.
It is planned that this road will become the main artery for the export of Ukrainian goods to the countries of Eastern and southern Europe and a transit corridor for international trade through Ukraine, Belarus and the Baltic States to the countries of Eastern and southern Europe, as well as connecting Transcarpathia with the other regions of Ukraine.
Now the road M-06 from Mukachevo to Lviv passes through difficult mountainous terrain, the journey takes about 3.5 hours. A new highway will reduce the journey time to two hours.
Preparation of pre-feasibility study of the project envisages the development of the concept of the route proposals for the reconstruction and/or construction of new, as well as determining the cost of the project.
This new highway will connect Lviv with the Hungarian motorway M-3 Budapest-Nyiregyhaza will be the main road corridor between Ukraine and Hungary.
The Ministry recalled that in this year we started designing a new road category I from Mukachevo to the checkpoint Dyida. This section of the road should ease traffic between Ukraine and Hungary, as well as remove load from checkpoint Chop-záhony, which yet accounts for the bulk of road freight transport.
In the future, a new highway Lviv-Mukachevo will be connected with the Slovak motorway R-2, which will provide its connection with the system of highways of Slovakia, Czech Republic and Germany.
