In 2017 the Ministry of health personnel to initiate conducting at undergraduate and postgraduate levels of training of doctors evaluating the state of Ukrainian medical education in comparison with international standards, in particular the us. About it reports a press-service of the Cabinet of Ministers.

Include the American tests in the evaluation of students and interns, it was decided to bring the content and level of Ukrainian medical education to the international standards for the training of doctors.

“If we implement Western standards of care, and standards of education must meet. This exam will be an objective indicator of the state of our curricula: we test students, and our education system, ” said Deputy health Minister Alexander Lynch.

For 16 years, the testing Centre under the MOH of Ukraine holds a license integrated exam – Step objective evaluation of professional competence of future physicians.

Now the contents subtest assistance in case of emergency, which is contained in the exam for interns “Step 3. General medical training”, will be based on the examination of the USMLE (United States Medical Licensing Examination – an Examination for obtaining a medical license from the United States). Subtest will be 25% of the total number of tasks submitted to exam.

The students of 6 course enrolled in the direction “Medicine”, may 12, 2017 will take the exam IFOM (International Foundations of Medicine or the International foundations of medicine), which is also based on American medical licensing exam USMLE.

In the Ministry noted that it will provide an opportunity to compare the level of medical education in Ukraine with other countries, primarily the United States.

Testing will be held in Ukrainian or English.
