In the framework of the implementation of commitments under the defence reforms in Ukraine to 2018 should appoint a civilian defense Minister, to accept the concept of reforming of SBU and the law on national security. This was stated by the head of Mission of NATO in Ukraine Alexander Vinnikov during the round table, reports UKRINFORM.
Speaking about plans for next year, Vinnikov said: “Further active implementation of the obligations under the defence reform in Ukraine in the framework of the Strategic defence Bulletin, including the transition to a civilian Minister of defence in 2018”.
In addition, according to Vinnikov, in 2018, Ukraine should take the concept of reform of the SBU and the new national security law, which clearly describes the roles and responsibilities in the sector of security and defense.
In November the Secretary General of the Alliance Jens Stoltenberg said that NATO continues to adhere to the policy of open doors and ready to accept new members.
