Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu plans to discuss with U.S. President Donald trump the possibility of resuming peace talks with the Palestinians and security issues in the region. He stated this at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, reports The Jerusalem Post.

“I will discuss with the President of the trump ways to further strengthen the first and most powerful Union in the United States. We will strengthen ties in security, which are reinforced daily and we will also discuss ways of achieving peace,” said Netanyahu.

The last time Israel and the Palestinians broke the peace dialogue mediated USA, in 2014.

Trump will arrive in Israel on two-day visit on may 22.

“This is the first visit of the President of trump outside the United States and it is an honor for us he decided to come to Jerusalem, capital of Israel, and, of course, in the state of Israel,” said Netanyahu, adding that Israel will meet trump with “open arms.”

As Deutsche Welle reports with reference to sources in the White house, trump will call Netanyahu and the head of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas to take measures to strengthen trust to create a suitable atmosphere for the resumption of peace talks.

It is anticipated that trump will remind Netanyahu on the need to limit Israeli construction in the disputed territories and support the Palestinian economy. Also, the US President will again urge the Palestinian authority to refrain from aggressive action against Israel.
