The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) may ship in order to force the Russian gas monopoly OJSC Gazprom to pay imposed on the company in January 2016, the penalty in the amount of 85 billion UAH for violation of the Antimonopoly legislation of Ukraine. It on a press-conferences were declared by the head of the Committee Yuriy Terentyev, UNIAN reports.

Terentyev said that Gazprom tried all ways to challenge the decision on the penalty and currently continues his judicial activity.

“However, there is a decision of the AMC, the penalty is imposed, the decision must be made. If it is not done, we will go to court”, – he added.

According to him, the materials appeal to the court is ready, but the exact date of submission of the claim yet.

We will remind, in January 2016, the AMC has put Gazprom a fine of UAH 85 billion (about $3.4 billion) for abuse of dominant position on the market of transit of gas. The decision was made in the framework of the order of the government, and in light of the formal charges from the European Commission, put forward by Gazprom in connection with its dominant market position in Central and Eastern Europe, in violation of the Antimonopoly legislation of the EU.

12 APR 2016 Gazprom decided to challenge this decision, filing a lawsuit in the Economic court of Kiev. However, the court rejected the claim of the Russian monopoly.
