The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has held a phone conversation with Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel, during which the policy said that the decision to release Ukrainian hostages must be implemented before the end of 2017. About it reports a press-service of administration of the President.
“Petro Poroshenko and Angela Merkel stressed the importance of implementing solutions that will lead to the liberation of the Ukrainian hostages until the end of the year”, – stated in the message.
In turn, the Ukrainian President expressed gratitude for the decision on the renewal of EU sanctions against Russia.
The sides expressed “concern with the escalation of the Russia-backed militants the situation in the Donbass” and the frequent cases of shelling of positions of ATO forces and civil settlements. They reaffirmed their commitment to the agreement on an indefinite ceasefire on Christmas and new year holidays.
Merkel and Poroshenko expressed regret over the decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s unilateral withdrawal of its officers from the joint center for control and coordination of the ceasefire in the Donbass (SCCC) and discussed the possibility of restoring the mechanism.
The President of Ukraine informed the Chancellor about the unlocking process of creating an anti-corruption court in Ukraine.
