Also found that mentors can be persons with criminal records, those who use alcohol or drugs.

The coach has the right to visit the child’s place of residence, education, treatment, rehabilitation. Also, with the consent of the child and parents, other legal representatives of the child, the administration of institutions for children-orphans and children deprived of parental care, an institution for children, the mentor can communicate with the child outside of his place of residence, education, treatment, rehabilitation, including to invite a child to your family in holidays and nonworking days, holidays and to render assistance in obtaining additional educational, social, rehabilitation and recreational services, to participate in providing clothing, shoes and accessories for training and development.

The press service noted that today in Ukraine there are nearly 770 institutions, which is more than 100 thousand children. Only every tenth child in a residential institution, is an orphan or child deprived of parental care. Other children have parents, but for various reasons (poverty, difficult life circumstances, special educational needs) live in an orphanage.

“Living in a boarding facility causes irreparable harm to the emotional and psychological state of the child. These children grow up unprepared for life outside the institution and out into adult life without the necessary social skills. The practical implementation of the bill’s provisions will contribute to the development of public-private partnerships, because the mentoring is expected to attract public and charitable organizations”, – said the press service of the President.
