The proposal of the President of Russian Federation Vladimir Putin on the placement of the UN peacekeeping mission only on the line of contact is unacceptable. The President Petro Poroshenko wrote on his page in Facebook.

“Putin’s proposal for deployment of “blue helmets” just on the line of contact is absolutely unacceptable. The main goal – they should be located but all occupied territory”, – wrote Poroshenko.

He insists that peacekeepers should be present everywhere, including areas where Russia keeps weapons and the uncontrolled section of the Ukrainian-Russian border.

“It would very quickly stop the flow of Russian troops, weapons, and ammunition. Potential aggression would be stopped”, – said the President.

5 September 2017, Russia’s permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzia said that Russia has sent the Organization a draft resolution on the deployment of peacekeepers on the contact line in the Donbass. Putin noted that the presence of UN peacekeepers in the Donbass “would benefit the resolution of the conflict”, but then said that in his understanding we are talking about “people who ensure the safety of the OSCE mission,” and which “must be on the boundary line and no other areas.”

Ukraine has opposed the participation of the Russian Federation in the UN peacekeeping mission in the Donbass in the case that the decision to conduct such an operation were to be adopted.

Germany voted against discussion of the issue of peacekeepers with the militants LDNR, and Poland believes that peacekeepers should be placed on the Ukrainian-Russian border and not at the contact line, as proposed by Russia.
