The threat of escalation in the Donbas remains high. This was stated by President Petro Poroshenko at the meeting with heads of foreign diplomatic institutions of Ukraine, the correspondent of ЛІГА.net.
“The threat of escalation of the conflict, unfortunately, remains high. Now, during the so-called preparation for the exercises “Caucasus-2016″ the enemy is concentrating its forces and building a new military base on the border with Ukraine. Occupied Crimea has turned into a solid military base and now they talk about the deployment of nuclear weapons,” he said.
The President also added that the Kremlin deliberately ignores the Minsk agreements that are the key to resolving the situation in Donbas and the algorithm for the resumption of Ukrainian sovereignty over the occupied territories.
Earlier, Poroshenko said that the talks in Normandy format may be revived in the near future.
