President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko called the forced retention of Deputy Chairman of the Crimean Tatar Mejlis Ilmi Umerov in a psychiatric hospital, back in Stalin’s time. He said this in an interview with CNN.

Poroshenko noted that the hostages in the occupied territories and in Russian prisons, hundreds of Ukrainians.

At the last meeting of the trilateral contact group in Minsk, representatives ORDA confirmed that hold 47 of the Ukrainians.

In may 2016 special services of the Russian Federation initiated a criminal case against Ilmi Umerov on the article “separatism”. According to the invaders, he called for the violation of the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation in the Ukrainian TV channel ATR”. Despite the condition Umerov, the occupants locked him in a psychiatric hospital. On 10 August, the separatists decided to send zamglavy Majlis to forced psychiatric examination. 13 Aug Umerov reported that the appeal against the decision.
